A LITTLE HISTORY…
Conquered by the Vikings in their time, then place of landing of the English in the fourteenth century, the port of Saint-Vaast-La-Hougue is a site steeped in history that was laid out during the nineteenth century and shared between a fishing port and a marina.
Today, fishing and yachting activities coexist. During your stay at the campsite, you can walk along the quays, between the fish stalls and discover a lively commercial city throughout the year.
The fishing port of Saint-Vaast-La-Hougue
Located at the northeastern end of the Cotentin Peninsula in the Val de Saire, the fishing port of Saint-Vaast-La-Hougue is the third fishing port of the Channel. During your holidays at the campsite, you will be able to watch the return of the fishermen who come in season with a large variety of fish, shellfish and crustaceans.
You can also admire or see beautiful traditional boats moored to the pontoons such as vaquelottes, schooners, bisquines and bautiers that are waiting for you on the pontoons. If you have the time, do not hesitate to take a stroll aboard the Fleur de Lampaul, dundée breton, classified as a historical monument.

From the campsite, it is very easy to reach the port of St-Vaast, 5 minutes walk or bike, to discover a very lively atmosphere.
You will enjoy strolling on the docks and give yourself a little gourmet break on the terrace of the many restaurants that offer the best local specialties: oysters from Saint-Vaast-la-Hougue, fish and platters of ultra fresh seafood, grilled lobster, sauerkraut from the sea … You must absolutely taste the famous oyster St-Vaast, an oyster and fleshy ode that is characterized by its taste of hazelnut, but also the mussels of Barfleur direct from the east coast of Cotentin!
