The port of Saint-Vaast-La-Hougue is an authentic site shared between a fishing port and a marina. Located at the north-eastern end of the Cotentin peninsula in the Val de Saire, the fishing port of Saint-Vaast-La-Hougue is the third largest fishing port in the Channel.

During your stay at the campsite, you can’t fail to take a stroll along the quays of the port of Saint Vaast. Walk along the typical fishing port, then take the marina on the marina side. Then discover the nautical centre with a nice view of the pontoons and their sailing boats. As you go along, take the quays as far as the harbour master’s office and the port’s maritime entrance gates. Will they be accessible to you as a pedestrian? Check the tide times.

On the horizon, you will see Tatihou Island and, further offshore, the islands of Saint-Marcouf and Ile du Large.

The fishing port of Saint-Vaast-La-Hougue

Professional fishing is an important part of the village’s economy, with trawlers, but also with caseyers, rope makers and gill-netters. You can notably discover these boats, decorated with paper flowers, during the Fête de la Mer which takes place every 10 years!

During your holiday at the campsite, you can watch the fishermen returning to the quay to land a wide variety of fish, shellfish and crustaceans throughout the seasons. Every morning of the week, depending on the tides, go to the fresh fish stalls directly from the producer! Prepare your typical Normandy meal… There you have it, a lively shopping town all year round!
